On June the 24th 1988, NASA Scientist and Climate Expert Dr James Hansen testified before the U.S Senate. In his landmark testimony, Hansen told the Committee that higher global temperatures could be attributed to a long-expected global warming attributable to pollution, known as the "greenhouse effect". Hansen told the committee that it was 99% certain that the warming trend was not a natural variation but was caused by a buildup of carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere, by the burning by humans of fossil fuels and other activities. In this video, leading experts reflect on the accuracy of Hansen's testimony and the compelling urgency to act.
